Okay, I know you might wonder why I would feature this on the web site. My wife and I won a trip to San Francisco this year and I have to be honest, I wasn't all that thrilled about going. While searching the net for some fun things to do in San Fransico, we happened upon the Ghost Hunt. NOW YOU'RE TALKING! Our entire vacation was centered on this one event. It became the main reason to go and let me tell you, it was worth the trip. Jim Fassbinder started the San Francisco Ghost Hunt in 1998. He belongs to several professional associations and is proudly a member of the Paranormal Research Organization.
Currently Jim Fassbinder is seen on the Travel Channel with Haunted Hotels, his second appearance in a supernatural series. Check out the the Travel Channel's web site and they sometimes have audio ghost stories you can listen to read by Jim himself. Just search their site for "Ghost Hunt".
In case you have never been to San Francisco, the weather there almost never changes. It is one of a few places in the world where the temps remain pretty constant. Low 70's for the high, 50's at night. It ALWAYS feels like a hint of Autumn. A perfect setting. The tour is a walking tour. You meet in the lobby of the Queen Anne Hotel. The hotel sets the mood right away. (I wish we had stayed there.) Jim arrives dressed in his long black coat, top hat, and his lantern to help show you the way. Before leaving the hotel, you get to listen to some of the fascinating history of the hotel and it's own haunted past.
As you walk the hills of Pacific Heights, Jim will thrill you with the historic haunts of the area and tell you tales of tragedy, humor, and mystery. Don't worry about facing the hills, many stops are made and the walk is quite casual. The view, the atmosphere, the entire setting is very entertaining and well worth it. When the night was over, everyone just stood and talked for quite some time. Even though the hour was late, none of us wanted it to end. If you happen to be in San Francisco, this tour is a must. Don't save it for the last night there, as I did. Jim can also give you suggestions for other spooky adventures in the area.
Oh, there are a couple of neat bridges and a few other things there to look at in the daytime while you wait for the Haunt. You might check those out as well...if you have time.
